This guide explains how to connect the Flexmonster MCP server to your assistant.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that allows AI assistants to call external tools. With the MCP server, your AI assistant has access to the most recent Flexmonster documentation.
The server is hosted by Flexmonster, so there is nothing to install:
https://mcp.flexmonster.com/v2
To avoid unexpected results, always check the assistant’s output against the documentation.
The server exposes three tools:
fm_search looks up the query in the Flexmonster 2.9 documentation and API reference.fm_fetch retrieves complete guides when more detail is needed.fm_validate_report checks the report against the 2.9 schema. If the report does not pass validation, the tool points out the property at fault and suggests a fix for each problem.The assistant decides when to call the tools; you don't need to invoke them yourself.
In claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, open Customize > Connectors > Add connector, then enter a name and the server’s URL:
https://mcp.flexmonster.com/v2
In Claude Code, add the server from the command line:
claude mcp add --transport http flexmonster https://mcp.flexmonster.com/v2
In your project’s .cursor/mcp.json file or the global ~/.cursor/mcp.json file, add the following:
{
"mcpServers": {
"flexmonster": {
"url": "https://mcp.flexmonster.com/v2"
}
}
}
In your .vscode/mcp.json file, add the following:
{
"servers": {
"flexmonster": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.flexmonster.com/v2"
}
}
}Note No authentication or API key is required to connect to the server.
Here are some example prompts to get started with the Flexmonster MCP server and explore what it can do. Copy any of them into a chat that has the server connected, and replace the text in square brackets with your own details:
Build an HTML page with Flexmonster 2.9 that shows the sum of Sales by Country (rows) and Category (columns). Format Sales as currency with no decimals.
Data schema: Country (string), Category (string), Order Date (date), Quantity (number), Sales (number).
Sample rows:
[
{ "Country": "France", "Category": "Bikes", "Order Date": "2026-01-15", "Quantity": 3, "Sales": 1200 },
{ "Country": "Germany", "Category": "Accessories", "Order Date": "2026-01-16", "Quantity": 10, "Sales": 850 },
{ "Country": "France", "Category": "Clothing", "Order Date": "2026-02-03", "Quantity": 5, "Sales": 430 }
]
In Flexmonster 2.9, how do I hide the "Format cells" item from the Toolbar and add a custom button next to it?
Add a calculated measure "Profit Margin", calculated as (Revenue − Cost) / Revenue, to this Flexmonster 2.9 report and display it as a percentage: [paste your report object].
How do I save the current report in Flexmonster 2.9 to my own backend and restore it when the page reloads?
In Flexmonster 2.9, when a user clicks a cell, show the underlying records in a side panel.
Connect Flexmonster 2.9 to the CSV file at [your CSV URL], pre-filter it to the last 12 months using [date field], and show the top five products by [measure].
The MCP server is hosted by Flexmonster. It processes your search queries to find the corresponding documentation and your reports to validate them. Reports and queries are not stored.
The AI assistant you connect to the server has its own data handling policy and may store your data. Review its privacy policy before sharing sensitive information.
The connector may have failed to save configurations. Restart your AI assistant so the connector can load the tools in a fresh session. If they are still unavailable, check the server’s URL, remove and re-add the connector.
