Use Calculated Values in Rows and columns

Answered
Eric Morgan asked on May 7, 2020

Hello Flexmonster team! I would like to be able to use calculated fields in Rows and Columns but the calculated fields will not drag to anything but Values in the UI. It this possible? For example:
PatientYearsOfService(Sum)
if("PatientYearsOfService" < 10,10, "PatientYearsOfService" )

Hello, Patrick,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We would like to kindly explain that calculated values can not be placed somewhere except measures. The measure created in such a way can not be represented as a hierarchy using its values as members.

Our team kindly asks if you could provide us with details about the use case that requires such hierarchies. It would help us to find the best solution.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
Illia

Thank you for the quick response. The basic use case is to be able to group values into a single one so, in the case of stacked column like in the attached sample they get plotted in a single column. That is, value of 4-10 would get plotted in one column, 11-20, in the next, etc. So, what I want to do is use a calculated field where, in this case (in pseudo-code), "IF PatientYearsOfService <=10 return 0, ELSE IF PatientYearsOfService  >10 and <=20 return 20 etc.

Hello, Patrick,

Thank you for providing us with additional information.

Our team would like to confirm that such a result can not be achieved using calculated values.
We recommend preprocessing the data so that it contains the hierarchy that needed to be created using calculated values.

We have prepared an example using the approach described above.

Our team hopes it helps.
Please let us know in case additional assistance is needed.

Best regards,
Illia
