Allow user to edit table

Answered
Dean Whitney asked on September 15, 2020

Is it possible to allow the user to upload an excel spreadsheet; then add a new column and manually enter cell values? Ideally they would be editing the table like they would in Excel in the web browser.

Hi Dean,

Thank you for posting your question.

Please note that at the moment Flexmonster does not provide an option to load data directly from MS Excel – we would suggest exporting your Excel data to CSV instead and then passing it to Flexmonster.

Check out the following documentation page for a step-by-step tutorial on how to easily connect to your CSV data set: https://www.flexmonster.com/doc/csv-data-source/

Addressing your question regarding new columns & cell values, we would like to emphasize that at its core Flexmonster is a data visualization tool rather than an Excel-like spreadsheet with advanced data editing possibilities.

With that in mind, while Flexmonster provides the editing option for JSON & CSV to allow editing the cell values in the grid, you would still need to implement additional logic if you'd like to reflect those changes on your actual data source.

Please let us know if this helps.

Best regards,
Mykhailo
