Side effect of adding report filter

Closed
Sergii Valko asked on July 2, 2020

Hello! The side effect of adding report filter is disabling filtering by values and sorting ability under hierarchy/filter dialog. Please open example and click on the 'BILLDATE' hierarchy. You will see filter by labels and values, also sorting controls will be there. After adding 'BILLDATE' as a report filter, 'Add filter' button will help with it, you will see neither filter by values and sorting controls under hierarchy/filter dialog.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, Sergii,

Thank you for contacting us.

Describing the issue, you referred to the example, that is not attached to your question.

But we managed to reproduce the reported behavior on our side– indeed, report filter works as you said.
Please note that it is not possible to sort or filter by values while they are not displayed on the grid, and only filter by members could be done using report filters.

Hope it helps, otherwise please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards,
Milena

Hello Milena! I'm sorry, I've missed JSfiddle link. It is here. As you can see, without filter added, 'billdate' measure could be filtered by labels and sorting can be controlled. After clicking 'Set filter' button this ability disappeared.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, Sergii,

Thank you for sending the sample.

We would like to mention that the report filter is designed to display different data subsets in the report, whereas fields in the columns and rows have filtering by values and sorting ability.

Our component provides the following logic: field could be either in report filters, columns, or rows. For that reason, it is possible to drop the field only to one of the corresponding boxes using UI. You are welcome to check this behavior on the component.

On the other hand, setting the field as a report filter, column, and row at the same time could be done through the code. However, this is not recommended.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Best regards,
Milena
