Using Grand Totals in a calculated Measure

Answered
Mark James asked on August 9, 2016

Is it possible to use the grand total of a column in the formula for a calculated measure?
I need to calculate a weighted profit value which requires the total profit of the resultset in question. Not just the profit found within the rolled up cell.

Hi Mark!

Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately, there is no such option. Is it critical feature for you?

Hi Dmytro,
What I'm trying to do is the following formula for weighted profit %. (Profit/Revenue)*100 * (Profit/Total Profit for the selected set).
What this does is factors in the contribution of a customer profit to the company rather than just it's profit % in isolation. If I could come up with another way of doing this then I won't need this feature. I just can't think of one because if I change the filters the total profit for the selected data will change, hence the waiting factor will change.
I guess that is a long winded way of saying, I can't think of a work around so yes, probably would like that feature.
cheers

Hi Mark,
We are not planning to add this feature in the nearest versions, but we want to suggest you some workaround. We have already implemented such aggregation functions as "% of column" , "% of row". The idea is that "% of column Profit" = (Profit / Total Profit of column data set ) * 100. So it seemed for us that one of this functions will solve your problem. Let us know if it helps you.
Best regards,
Dmytro.

Thanks for the work around Dmytro. I'd say that will definitely work. I'll give it a try and let you know.
cheers
Mark
