Flexmonster data server high RAM usage

Answered
DAVID SERCEAU asked on August 31, 2020

Hi,
Is there a way to optimize the flexmonster-data-server memory usage ?. In my case, it's using ~ 8 Go of memory at rest. Which means when no clients are requesting the flexmonster URL. Also, is there any recommended specs for a Debian machine ?

Debian10
SqlDatabase data source
4cpu8gRAM

Hi, David!

Thank you for your question.

Flexmonster Data Server initially uploads indexes that are specified in the config file. If you have a big amount of data, the first upload of the data will take time and memory. We would like to mention that this behavior depends only on the dataset size.

Also, as the requests are cached on the server side, the cache is taking up the RAM. Therefore, we kindly recommend reducing the number of requests by specifying the CacheSizeLimit property in the Data Server configuration. The default value of this property is 100, so we suggest decreasing it.

About Debian machine:
Please note that there is no particular specification for it, as the Data Server works the same on every OS.

Please let us know if the suggested solution works for you and if any questions arise.

Best regards,
Milena

Hello, David,

We were wondering if our response helped you with your question.
Have you tried specifying the CacheSizeLimit property in the flexmonster-config.json? Did it optimize memory usage?

Please let us know if our suggestion works for you and if any questions arise.

Best regards,
Milena
