Flexmonster Mondrian Bug & Readiness

Answered
KHOR WAI HOAL asked on July 31, 2019

To whom it may concern:

I had done a full round test/POC/review on Mondrian & comparing it to Elasticsearch / MSA, but it happened to be the "Drill Features" is totally not functioning which made it a show stopper for my organization to proceed further on bringing up this product to live. Hope Flexmonster team could address the concern, else it will halt the whole Mondiran Communites and on doubting what Flexmonster claim is not what their users get. Below are few pinpoint on the issues:

  1. The Drill is only allowing on "Measurement" columns, any other columns clicking would giving ERRORS. **Flexmonster could cross verified it on DEMOS**.
  2. Even the Drill on "Measurement" successfully return of result, but seems the fields filter not working properly. Mondrian Pivot will returning ALL dimension even-though I only ticked partial of it, in wise Elasticsearch is working perfectly fine as accordingly. **Flexmonster could cross verified it on DEMOS**.

Appreciated if you could answer my last question "Is Mondrian a ready product OR it still on BETA stage"?
Thanks regards Eral.

Hello,
Thank you for posting your question here.
Please find our answers below:

  1. Thank you for reporting the issue with the drill-through. It is a known bug and we are already working on it. We are going to release a fix in minor update with ETA Aug 27.
  2. The behavior you have described is a normal one, not a bug. Flexmonster drill-through window for Mondrian data source does return ALL the dimensions from Mondrian response. Fields filtering functionality is simply not supported for Mondrian data source.
  3. Mondrian data source is in a ready production stage. We continue maintaining it.

Also, taking into account the fact that you are in test/POC/review process we recommend considering trying Elasticsearch as a data source for reporting. It is also an open-source solution. Also, Elasticsearch has a broad community, rich documentation and continues developing fast.
Please let us know in case of any other question.
Regards,
Dmytro

This is included in the 2.7.13 version of Flexmonster: https://www.flexmonster.com/release-notes/.

You are welcome to update the component.
Here is our updating to the latest version tutorial for guidance: https://www.flexmonster.com/doc/updating-to-the-latest-version/ .
An important remark is that Flexmonster Accelerator needs to be updated as well: https://www.flexmonster.com/doc/updating-to-the-latest-version/#!accelerator.
